Yesterday when I went to bed my left kidney was hurting painfully like a very sharp pain. I couldn't even get to sleep so I just drank a lot of water thinking it would flush the kidney or something.

Now it hurts here and again.

I drink healthily, I eat healthily.

I do drink a lot of diet coke, I did have 6 refill pints of it last week.

Where your kidneys are there are also other things that can hurt so it's hard to be sure what is hurting.

Either way the best thing to do is see a doctor. If it is your kidneys hurting it might be that you have a kidney infection which they can treat with antibiotics. It could also be that you're getting muscle pain from muscles by your kidney in which case som Ibuprofen and rest might be suggested. A doctor can help make sure where the pain is and treat whatever it is.

It can take a while to get a GP appointment so I would pop into a pharmacy while you wait for your appointment to see if they can give any advice (pharmacists have a lot of training and are usually very good for things like pain relief and treating minor conditions). That or you could go to a walk in clinic.
