I've applied to university and going through interviews. I currently work in school as a TA and still waiting for results. As I am not guaranteed a place I thought I would wait until I complete the skills test. When should I hand in the notice? If I hand in my notice on the last day of school(end of July), will I be paid in August? How does it work?

There's always a notice period mentioned within the contract before you start work, my first advice would be to look at that (usually two weeks).

Also, it doesn't matter when you do it, whether it's in July or August, you'll be paid for every day you have worked for.
