OCR MEI Maths: Paper 2, 12th June 2019 Unofficial mark scheme

Section A:
k=0.1
0.8
24x(x^2 +5)^11
2(x^2 +5)^12 +c

0.71 (trapezium rule)
Underestimate

Mode class: 1
Mid-range : 2.5

Integration by parts: -8x^-4(lnx) -2x^-4 +c

Section B:
Q7: r=5 point something and 7.04

0.28 (tree diagram)
71 weeks or 23 weeks

r = 3
648
sum, 9 days

Inverse function domain: -1<x<3 x<0 where x is real
Range something up to 64

Iteration: 1.3500 with about 12 iterations lol

Removed N/A
Use IQR no outliers
Libya 22900 something

Minimum sample size 40 or 60

Last question: Normal with s.d. 4 mean 35
Use normal distribution to get prob: 0.788707
Then use binomial with probability of over 45 less than 0.05

1.350 or something for the iteration one I think
Minimum sample size? I got 60 but not sure if it's right

I got 40 but that was a straight up guess. How did you do it

Worked out the minimum n for p(x=0) to be < 0.025 as it said 2 tailed with significance level 0.05. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible for any value to be significant if you see what I mean. Couldn't think of any other way of doing it tbh

For Q6, the integration by parts question, f 32/x^5 Lnx dx did anyone else get 32/6 (x^-6) +c
what were your guys' conclusions on the hypothesis tests?
I got -8(x^-4)lnx-2(x^-4)+c

Plane - reject H0
Jaguar - could not reject H0
need the grade boundaries to be as low as the black panther population
What did u get for the number of weeks and probability in the raffle question?

71 weeks
for the gf(x) question did you put f(x) into g(x) or the other way round?
yep

Normal Distribution was test was significant. We reject the null hypothesis. There is sufficient evidence to suggest that mean time has changed
Binomial Distribution was test was not significant. We do not reject the null hypothesis. There is insufficient evidence to suggest that probability of black panthas has changed.
Both were two tail tests.

Couldn’t put do half of the paper. Need an A for med school, looking like a U. What a pile of ****.

15.7 something is nearly 16 so model is a good fit for the plane question for under 2 hours - did anyone else get the same ?
70 percent- A star
60 percent- A
50 Percent- B
