The Student Room Group

How do I go to Uni in the US?

Do I need to do A-levels AND THEN SATs or ACTs?

What's the process, I'm really new to this.

Could I just do the qualification to get in instead of doing A-levels?
What's the tuition process then?

Finance-wise.
Do they not have student loans? I would think so, looking at the info online, people just get loans and pay it back after.
Are they not available to foreign students then?
Ok, well thanks for letting me know :hat2:
Financing is the tough part I’m afraid, there are scholarships available for the very best and brightest. As has been said, even harder for international students.
You can get a tuition loan but it needs to be guaranteed by an American citizen. Personally, given the amount of money that’s borrowed, I could never put that on one of my American friends.
Finally you need to be aware that the student loan system isn’t the same over there as it is here, they’re private loans and you’re expected to start paying them back almost immediately, not like here where they wait till you’re earning a certain amount and put you on a very manageable payment plan.

Financing is the hard part, what Perksy121 said above is entirely correct. You can always do a year abroad (and it costs barely anything). But you will need to take the ACT/SAT as well as your A-levels.
