my teacher is moving to a different country and she's known me for quite awhile. i'm giving her a card and a gift on her last day would it be weird if i included my non college email in the card? does anyone else still keep in touch with previous teachers from college? is it weird at all? but she really is a great teacher

If you have a proper friendship with your teacher hen i guess that’s fine. I’m guessing there’s an age gap which might make it a little awkward i think

I wouldn't include the email in your card, but I'd explain to her that you'd like to keep her up-to-date with how things are going and ask if you can give her your email.

No if you got on great then stay in touch. Say you would like to check in on her from time to time and you see her as a mentor and if you ever need advice or reference you would like to ask her.

Well, i'm answering this from 'the other side of the aisle' - i'm male. I wouldn't hesitate to do that to a male instructor that i liked. I'm straight, but i still like to keep in touch with former instructors/colleagues. Nearly all of them are male, since i'm an electrical engineer - and i've found very few females in my field (unfortunately). We occasionally trade technical information, and ask each other whether or not the other has heard of a source for something. Also, in case of need, they can be a source of tips on where to apply for a job, even though we are fairly well separated - i've run contracts for the government all over the USA, so some of my contacts are in California, one is even in Saskatoon, Sk [Canada]. Best of luck!!
