Hi, I'm new to this forum and I am currently in Year 11 doing my GCSE's at a school in Brixton. This year has been a very tough year for me as my mum has been ill with stage 4 cancer and I have been responsible for her care.
This has affected my education this year and I was wondering whether the examinors will take into consideration. The teachers at my school are rubbish so I was wondering if you guys could give me any advice on how to go about it. I have 3 more exams left, so do you think if I wrote a letter explaining my circumstances and gave it to my head of year to attach to my examination scripts that it would be worthwhile? Or maybe I have left it too late as the examination scripts have already been sent off? I also want to know how long after each exam takes place are the papers sent off to be marked. Please respond back. Thanks

Well the boards dont ''care'' unless the ''circumstance'' is affecting you whilst you're sitting the exam. But you are eligable for special consideration, talk to your exams officer about it and theyll sort it out once you explain. They might not give you much but itll be something, hope it works out for you.

Don't worry too much about it just focus on your A levels next year and get good grades in those, and if you are worried about unis accepting these grades try to pick unis that interview that way you can explain your situation and show that you are determined as you overcame these problems for AS

I hope your situation gets better and best wishes to you and your mum
