    Just curious, anyone come across why the psychodynamic approach is called the 'psychodynamic' approach? Is it cos it's the first dynamic explanation theorised?

    Because it is a psychological theory that emphasises the dynamic nature of the mind. That is, that it changes at the whim of the libido and unconscious forces that direct our mind.

    im pretty sure its to do with "psychic energy" which can shift around the unconscious (e.g. repressed anger, thantos).

    It was proposed by Freud who claimed that there are 3 parts of our psyche which are unconsciously battling which makes us behave in certain ways.

    There is...

    Id...our selfish side
    Superego...makes us unsociable and reserved
    Ego...Balances Id and Ego out
