Is there a title?

Pick something interesting.

Do a title that covers the period.
Have good structure/ investigation.
Do good analysis
Excellent and relevant research from multiple sources.
Excellent use of evidence.
Good evaluation and insight.

Should get you at least a B and probably an A or A* depending how well you do each part. You basically need to do every element well and in sufficient depth.

Pick a subject that is appropriate for the length of the coursework i.e not too large.
Whats the word count for the coursework? 3-4,000?

Interesting title, but easily doable.
You do need to do enough prep reading to give you a breadth view of the period.
I would go with about 5 headings of 500 words each or even 5 of 400 and then as part of your counterargument and theory testing you could use another 500. Each big paragraph or mini essay I would use one factor about the cause of warfare.

With the insight and evaluation parts you need to reflect over the long term the nature of nations engaging in war.
You also need to consider whether there has been a changing nature of the dynamic of war since 1800 or by the time you reach 1914 the factors are exactly the same.

So a basic essay plan might look like
Intro and investigation 250
Factor 1 400
Factor 2 400
Factor 3 400
Factor 4 400
Counter argument and insight. 500
Final evaluation and conclusion.400

You have a spare 500 to play with .

You now need to do some reading and thinking about the cause of warfare and conflict.
When you use examples be sure to use the whole period.
