Oxford Accomodation - Which one should I pick?

Hi everyone,

I will be starting my Master's programme at the Blavatnik School of Government in September 2019 and I have been allocated Kellogg College.

I have to choose between two accommodation options and I am quite confused. The options are -

1. Single Studio Castle Mill
Rent p.m. - £775
Electricity bill not included in rent
Kitchen and Bathroom attached
Distance from the Department - 15 min (walk)

2. Summertown House single room
Rent p.m. - £570
Electricity bill included in rent
Kitchen and Bathroom to be shared between 4 students
Distance from the Department - 45 min (walk); 15 min (cycle)

Even though Summertown House is budget friendly, my only concerns are the distance from my Department building. Weather in UK is not the best so whether cycling would make sense. Also, if I want to go out drinking with friends, I won't be able to peddle around. Another concern is that of shared bathroom between 4 people in terms of hygiene. Does it make sense to spend almost £200 more per month for the convinience?
