Hey

I'm a 17 year old girl and generally quite petite. I've been having a lot of problems trying to buy adult clothes which fit me. I'm still a kids size for a lot of things but my style is that of teen and adult clothing...

For most of my teenage years, I've just worn adult clothes oversized (and since I'm a bit of an 'emo', this doesn't look too weird) but I would rather wear clothes which fit me well sometimes, and for things like jeans and underwear, you can't really have them oversized.

For plain jeans and pants I usually buy kids and that's okay but for jeans which are actually fashionable (and not just black skinnies) and for bras, etc., this doesn't work...
The main issue is bras: I've got 2 types of bras which I've found fit (kids ones from Next and Debenhams, but only one specific type from each) but otherwise there aren't any... And since I'm almost an adult, I would rather wear actually stylish underwear - but no lingerie comes in my size? Also trying to find bikinis is a nightmare so I still have to wear one-pieces :/

Does anyone have any good tips or know of any good brands/shops which offers small sizes?

If it helps, my average UK sizes are:
Tops - 4?
Jeans - 2? I haven't been able to find many but I know 4s are too big. Occasionally a 'petite' 6 will fit.
Bras - 28AA
Height - 5ft 1in (~155cm)

I don't know if size 0 exists in the UK but I'd say I range from a 0/2 to 4 depending on the store. Since most stores only offer a 6 (or min. 4), I don't really know if I fit 0-2.

(And before anyone comments to just wear crop tops if I don't meet bra sizes - (1) I'm 17, I don't want to wear 11-year olds crop tops, and (2) I have boobs enough to not get away with crop tops. I don't want to go back to the awkward preteen stage of being able to see the shape of my boobs...)

https://www.bouxavenue.com bras start at 28A, but they run small compared to other brands so that might work out for you. They do fittings in-store too so the staff should be able to help you out. Certain styles fit differently too so what might fit in one size won't in another style.

Not sure on the rest I'm afraid!

Thank you! I'll check them out

Bras are the main issues as with tops and jeans I can use children's sizes or wear oversized.

Marks & Spencer has some really nice bras at your size. They are in the kids' section but are proper bras, not crop tops. I'm the same age as you and I wear them (although in a bigger size)

For jeans go to topshop! Their sizes are tiny so would definitely fit

Thank you, but sadly theirs are too big, even though they're labelled 28AA (unless they've changed their sizing in the last few months).
They do have some nice designs though so it's a shame...

Thank you! I haven't tried topshop for jeans before so I'll order some

I'd recommend going to the reddit "a bra that fits" because it has a really good calculator (can be found in their beginner's guide or on the non-mobile site there's a link on the side bar thing) for finding your bra size and best cup style for your boobs etc and they can probably give better advice on where to find bras in your size.

For smaller sizes for clothes online stores that go by european measurements often go smaller otherwise asain brands/online stores tend to offer smaller sizes in both width and height (just check their measurement/size guides before getting anything).

Also remember that size creep is a real thing in a few stores (next is one I've noticed) so a size 6 today might have been a size 8 a few years back and teamed with the poor petite options... well don't blame yourself/your body for having to go looking in the kids section.

Thanks for the advice! I'll try out the reddit calculator now.
Okay thanks, I'll try and look out for those - do you know of any of those stores which use European measurements/Asian brands?

Thanks - I have to admit I do feel quite embarrassed about it sometimes but that's kind of reassuring

EMP use european sizes (it sells band and fan merch and I guess you could say they specialise in more gothic/emo brands (you said that was more your style so I'm sure you'll find something nice). Their shipping isn't the fastest but the quality is pretty good and they have a range of styles that suit a bunch of body types - idk about their jeans but their leggings fit me okay lengthwise even though I'm petite)

Yesstyle is a good place to start for clothes from asain brands (they also sell cute stationery if you like washi tape lol) to see if theres anything you might like or just to get a feel for their sizing (the youtuber "pretty pastel please" has a few hauls of clothing from them if you want to see more on how they might look/their quality irl).
