So I was always set on medicine but I’ve been starting to doubt that a bit recently I feel like it’s what I feel I should do as opposed to what I actually want to do. I absolutely love Geography and am not joking when I say I enjoy and can easily name every country in the world, where they are (and all the us states) is there any kind of job that’s sort of linked to this that I could do?

So can I and I actually did Medicine...

It doesn't really mean you're interested in Geography. There are loads more to learn than names of countries and the names of the United States.

Have you done any med work experience?

Ooh please could you tell me how you found medicine? Also yes I know I meant I found the subject very interesting including the human side. I’m not 18 yet so I’m limited but I’ve volunteered for charities, nursing homes and was allowed to volunteer in a hospital for a while but I couldn’t do much because of my age x

Medical school was good, junior doctor was gruelling. I got through that and now am a more senior junior doctor.

My specialty is quite chilled so have time to come on TSR and hopefully inspire future doctors.

Well done because that's a lot of things that you have done already. Can I ask why you now don't want to do medicine?

Aha yes that does seem to be the general opinion of most people I’ve spoken to but I’m sure it’ll be worth it in the end!
I don’t mean this in a boastful way but my grades have always been very good and my school and science teachers in particular have always told me and my parents that I should be doing medicine and I think I’ve reached the point now where I’m wondering whether it is actually what I want to do (as the course, foundation years and specialising mean a lot of commitment) or whether I feel like that’s just what I’m ‘supposed’ to be doing and it would be wrong for me to pick something else even if I enjoy it more? Idk if that makes sense or not but I guess I’m just starting to doubt myself because I don’t want to go into a career just because it’s what people think I should be doing x

:five: same... don't worry about it.

That's for you to think about. No one can answer your question for you. However you do fill fulfilled, even though it's hard work, as a junior junior doctor. You do get paid as well.

Don't do what others tell you to, do what you want to do yourself. I did want to do Medicine so I chose it!

So you still haven’t applied to anywhere right, I’m presuming your year 12 and possibly taking biology, chemistry and maybe maths. Look at the requirement for geography related subjects as the subject I named are facilitated subjects where for example you can do Law even though it’s not related.

Yes I was allowed to take 4 at the start so I do chemistry, biology and geography but have maths to AS level and I’m planning to take a gap year so I won’t be applying until next year x
