if I were to move out of my house, how much money should i save up before hand?

That is a really broad question that depends on many factors. For example, you will need more money if you live in London compared to say like Sunderland.

What about, if I moved out in ohio and the rent would be $500 and I am splitting it with a room mate

I’d say save up enough money for 3-4 months of rent + expenses so that you have that money available to you just in case something happens. You need to take into consideration things like bills, food, clothes etc.
