Not sure if this is the correct forum section to post this on....

I have my year 11 prom coming up but I have so much on my mind I may not go. Besides, a lot of my close friends aren't even going.

So what's your take on prom and is it really worth going? I may go to my 6th form prom instead. Is that usually better/worse/the same as the yr 11 prom.

if you don't wanna go, don't go. I didn't go to my junior prom, but I wanted to go to my senior prom.

and I think this should be under General Discussion

Mine was ****. Doesn't mean yours will be, though.

If you don't get wasted and wear something halfway decent, it should be fine.

Junior and senior prom? I live in the UK so I don't know if that's just the same as yr 11(aged1 16) and 6th form(aged 18)?

I didn't go to my year 11 prom, and don't regret not going one bit. My friends who did go tell me it was rubbish.
I did go to my schools year 13 xmas party, even though I left for college at the end of year 12. I just turned up, everyone was happy to see me, which was nice because I wasn't really paid that much attention to when I was still there.

I went to both. Year 13 was far more eventful, I spent part of the night taking someone to A&E in a taxi, and by the time I'd got back everyone was outside the hotel because we'd been kicked out early due to a bottling incident :p:. Fun times.

didnt really have a year 11 one, we just all really dressed up for nra instead.
my sixth form one a few weeks ago was amazing, one of the best nights out i've ever had so that's saying something. i guess it depends on how wasted you are/how well you get along with your school friends etc. we had a campaign to get our mate elected prom king and he was a really unlikely candidate, and he won it was hilarious.

ours was okay. but all of my close friends went. the entertainment after the meal was lots of fun, and the DJ was good. but the food was aweful - i said i was allergic to nuts and they came half way through the meal and asked if it'd eaten the starter because it had nuts in - who knew crutons had nuts in them? and because they had spent so much on the decorations and hiring caterers instead of having the food that the place offered, it meant we coudn't have a photographer - instead we got one of the teachers to take photos on their digital camera.

i hear the sixth form prom is better - or at least it is in our school. with the year 11 prom you get a last chance to let your hair down, and show people that you're not a complete studious geek (or at least that was the case for me ) and it is like a final goodbye - i mean i haven't seen 3/4s of the people from year 11 since the prom. but with the sixth form prom we can drink, and if you go in year 13, it will be like a final goodbye, i mean there will be little chance that you'll see half of your year again after you leave. i mean my cousin for example has lost contact with everyone baring one person, and that is only because they are by chance doing the same course together, and she didn't even realise until three months into the course.

Lol, I feel sorry for you guys ^^^.
Mine was immense, me and my mates got pissed up beforehand, met up with my beautiful date, had an awesome limo, where we drank more.
Had a great meal at a great venue, DJ was electric, danced loads, went home and got more drunk and got laid (H)

    Awesome night!

We didnt have a year 11 prom. We had a college leavers ball though which I went to. We had a casino (James Bond themed night) and I spent most of my time in there (luckily it wasn't real money, I was rubbish).
The after party on the other hand, was one of the best nights out I've had.

I went to all of mine and had a good laugh, most of the time. My last one, which will be your 6th form one, was a disaster. I got incredibly drunk and don't remember any of it. The joys of turning 18 a week or two before!

If you don't want to go then you don't have to. It's completely up to you, nobody can make the decision for you. If you don't go to this one, you can always go to the next one.

Yup, same with ours, everybody (even the poor kids) pulled out all the stops.

Ours was awesome, most of us enjoyed ourselves. Was a bit boring to start off with but then when the dancing started it was great, especially when Propane Nightmares came on, which i was listening to for most of the day anyway. Most people were like, what is this song and that is when i started going a bit mad xD

Went a bit wrong afterwards. We all were expecting to go up this guy's after party thing, but he only said 4 of the 8 of us could go. So in the end none of us went, and the night turned disastrous as we all trudged home, being only one of the few who didn't have an after party Oh well, to compensate we kinda had one the night later lol

Was a massive deal with us too! Overall spent over £100 for the night including Limo fee, Tux, Prom ticket, shoes etc.
