I always find that I need to be always have this sense of belonging. I have a very good relationship with my mates, albeit having only penetrated their circle more than a year now. However, I still feel that I tend to get sidelined sometimes. I understand that I am just new to the circle and good friends don't happen overnight and I am usually a rational person... but when it comes to things like these my insecurity seems to always take precedence over everything else.

Have you tried talking to your friends about it? Let them know how you feel. I'm sure they'd make the extra effort if they knew how you felt

this is quite a normal emotion.
look at the situation without bias...first ask yourself...is there any evidence that you are being sidelined, for example...any specific time you weren't invited somewhere?
if yes, is this because they knew you wouldn't want to go there for example? is it only you who wasn't invited there?
maybe they're not doing it deliberately.

speak to them. often you don't realise how much friends appreciate you, and you may be be pleasantly surprised to realise
