With childhood, you can talk about how sissy in HT refuses to let her imagination (or fun, however you wanna phrase it) to be gone, and thats what lets her rise and have a happy outcome in the end, so with this you can talk about the setting of the clownhouse she lives in, you can talk about her in chapter 2, perhaps the last chapter. so in Atonement, you can talk about how briony's imagination caused the downfall of others, which you can then comment on the ignorance or innocence children have, you can talk about annabella or whatever the dumb play was called at the start, because that forbodes cecilia's plotline with robby, you can talk about the temple and how she imagined cecilia and robby together, you can talk about the made up chapter where she imagined she met robby and cecilia together, and comment on how she wants to be relieved of the hard truth she caused, and you could talk about the end where she makes up the ending of cecilia and robby together on the beach, because she feels bad. hope this helped.

You can also compare the different educations of Briony Tallis and Louisa whereby Briony has societal permission to express her creativity, for example through her play "the trails of Arabella" whereas Loo has her imagination suffocated from birth.
Also compare their absent mother figures: both weak and ill (mrs Gradgrind with anaemia and Mrs Tallis with migraines)
And compare their emotionally starved father figures:
Mr Tallis being at work all the time and not really involved in family affairs and Mr Gradgrind being excessively pragmatical.
