Would Boris Johnson sell the NHS if he came into power? Boris Johnson looks like at this stage he would do anything to get a deal with the US and the US want the NHS to be sold if a trade deal was negotiated, so would Boris Johnson sell the NHS just to get a trade deal with the US or not?

People are so misinformed when they hear the phrase 'sell the NHS'. The NHS was 'sold' about 10 years ago. Without you even noticing, most NHS services are being run privately, not by the government. If it's such a bad thing, why didn't you notice?

When people say that the NHS will be 'sold' to the US, they don't literally mean that it will actually be sold to the US. How can you sell something that is owned by somebody else? What is meant by the term 'sold' is that the medicine and equipment market will be opened up to US competitors. And it'll make everything cheaper - economics 101, more competition, lower prices.

Even if you could sell the NHS to US companies, it would make things a hell of a lot better. There is a reason the UK hasn't made a medical advancement in 20 years while the US leads the world in pioneering new and better medical techniques and medicine - it's because there is money in it for them, so it motivates people to make better and do better.

This is the proper right wing idealistic bubble, corporate freedom, privatisation leads to riches and pots of gold for everyone, when in almost every time this idealism is implemented the exact oppersite happens.

The slow privatisation has certainly not gone unnoticed, the last standing socialist organisation our socialist time is only still here free at the point of entry because it has mass public support, its almost become an institution. If any polical party said they would get rid of it they would never win power. Therefore the gradual running down of the NHS by those who dislike it has been going for decades, to try to break this public love affair, or to make them think its unaffordable.

Of course this is ludicrous in reality because its impossible to run a business at a profit cheaper than a non profit making service. But the NHS is a service based from socialism, it does not make money for the elite... That's why its doomed.

I do find it funny mind you that the people so scared of opening the NHS up to private American companies are the ones desparate to keep it open to European ones! However it should be open to neither!
