From what I understand whatever you put isn't meant to have any effect on your application and it only stands to give stats for UCAS to publish on class background etc.
I'm paraniod though and think it will mean more then just for stats, but that is only my opinion.

i very much doubt ucas are lying when they say the unis dont see it and i dont think what you say will have any bearing on your application.

This is on the UCAS form i'm just wondering does it put you in better sted if your put your dads a plumber as opposed to a bank manager etc?

Any Thoughts?


The university do not see this information - it's sent anonomously (ie without your name) to the ONS (office of national statistics) to assess what social-economic groups are going to what university. The info is then used in government facts and figures.

By lying - all you are doing is helping to put off people from a background similar to your own. Probably not a good thing!
