How long have you been living in Wirral?
Although Wirral is closer to University of Liverpool, it is about twice the distance and time to St Helens - Carmel College which is where the Year 0 programmes take place for Medicine, Dental and I think Veterinary Science too.

I can imagine how hectic it could be but the most important bit is that you enjoy it, that is the driving force that goes a long way in any career/profession.
Yes it’s about an hours drive to Carmel College I think. I’ve been here my whole life apart from a brief stint in Runcorn. Where are you living at the moment?

That's nice, you don't really have to move except you really need to.

I live Southeast of England, in Surrey to be precise.

Did you or do you intend to attend UoL's open day?

I shall try to PM Jaaydaniiels with the hope that they respond to the previous message I sent them on here.

Hope you are enjoying the course and hope it isn't below expectations?

Ah you’re quite far! Yes I won’t be moving any closer but I went to Edge Hill uni for my last degree and that was about the same distance- I found the commute quite relaxing!

No I don’t think I will attend one- I went to an open day there before I completed my first degree a couple of years ago and I have spoken to one of the admissions tutors specifically regarding this course so I feel like I’ve got all the information I need for now.

Oh yes, very far away I am.

What did you do your 1st degree in?

Commuting is not an issue for you then. I am hoping to get a place which is more or less equidistant between UoL and Carmel College.

I really hope so 😭 It’s just at this age, completing A Levels just isn’t feasible financially. I suppose we’ll find out about interviews in early March, if the other threads are anything to go by.
Little00, how old are you if you don't mind me asking?

You seem to be a bit quiet on here hope all is well?

How did you get to know about the Year 0 Medicine course?
I have always toyed with the idea of medicine but thought it was inaccessible to me (being a mature student, already done a degree, not the right a-levels etc) however after a lot of googling of post grad courses, foundation degrees etc I came across this one! I was feeling very lucky that it was a local too as we wouldn’t be able to relocate.

How did you come across it?

Well done for not giving up and for going ahead to research it!

I equally became fascinated with Medicine after a brief practise of nursing.
And due to many factors, I thought it was beyond reach. But, on discussing it with one of my friends, they mentioned this course and I researched more into it.

Hello Hannah, it is great to have you join us on this platform!
I am currently 40.5yrs old.
Yes, I know someone who has already done the course and they are in Year 3. Furthermore, I met a lady during the open day last year who also did the course, she is doing her Master's as she had finished her Year 4 and will commence Year 5 as soon as she is done with her Master's.

So, how old are you, where do you live and what do you currently do?
What did the person you know do in foundation was it essay heavy?! What type of things were covered I worry they’ll try and make me learn A level maths and chemistry and biology scares me haha.
Thanks and good luck

Not much of essays but lot of Human Biology and Chemistry with emphasises on Medicine. No Maths at all except for its application in Chemistry.

How did you find about about the course?

Cheers and good luck to you too!

Ah great so I assume that’s more organic chemistry and not things like how to make plastic or electrons etc.
No maths - hallelujah
Found out about it on TSR but I think it actually came up on a google search of foundation medicine courses actually. I was shocked

You only need the GCSES and if you had done A levels in the past they don’t look at them (is that right?) and if you’ve got a degree it’s different but I don’t have a degree.

Thanks

I am applying next cycle did intend to apply this time around but had some things go wrong (bereavements, appendicitis, sick mum) so I didn’t have the ability to put my best foot forward as I only found out about this course in November but was going to pursue the A level route.
I completed my GCSEs last year using private tutors - not at college just me my laptop and a tutor session when I needed help with a concept - and that doesn’t class as main stream education I don’t think.
I just stumbled across this course when looking at foundation courses for medicine and realised there’s no entrance exams and I don’t think I need A levels

Thanks

So sorry to hear about your aforementioned hindrances.

I thought you had already applied in 2017 or 2018 cycle?

No sadly not. I live about 90 minutes away from London Waterloo. Sadly I’d have to give up my home and move across country but it’s a risk I’m willing to take
