I don't even know whether people would class The Mars Volta as prog. I would class them as prog/experimental. Also sharing the love for King Crimson. Coheed can either be a big hit or a massive miss.
Can't have a thread on prog rock without mentioning Rush either..

Nah they're more neo-prog/prog metal. Technically PT are neo-prog too, at least according to the tagging database...

Prog rock = Yes, King Crimson, Rush, Genesis.

Porcupine Tree are my favourite band of any genre. Lots of progressive metal too, Textures, Extol, Cynic and so on.

Ok then genesis. DT are sort of prog rock... it's hard to classify bands these days.

I still say classic rock for the win!

I'm really into Genesis at the moment, particularly "Selling England By The Pound". Great album. King Crimson are up in my favourites too.

Claudio is especially whiney, but the overall music is decent.
Mars Volta are just amazing, my favourite band ever.

I love Porcupine Tree. They are amazing. (Regardless of whether thay are specifically Prog Rock or not!)
I think Rush are ace too; they're still going strong after all this time.

I saw both bands live last year, they were amazing shows. Rush played for 3 hours straight!! It was fantastic.

As you can probably tell from my username, Dream Theater are my favourite progressive band, but as they're more prog metal than prog rock I'm going to have to say my favourites are Rush and Pink Floyd. Bastille Day FTW!

Definitely good, I don't know if the songs are as "stand out" as the last record but I think it just needs a few listens to get into. Awake is an awesome track. What did you think?

This is a thread about Rush.

    Because Rush IS progressive rock.

I haven't actually got round to listening to Rush or Yes, even though they are clearly essential listenings :|
