This has just been made public. On the 18th of April, two satellite tagged golden eagles disappeared in highly suspicious circumstances on a grouse moor in the Strathbraan area, in Perthshire.

One tag showed up as moving to a vehicle turning circle, where it stayed at ground level for 5 or 6 minutes before it stopped transmitting. Just a few hours later, another tagged bird suddenly vanished as well, on the same estate and just a few km away. No trace of the birds or tags has been found.

These are the latest two eagles to disappear like this, with over 50 other sat-tagged golden eagles having previously disappeared in similar circumstances on Scottish grouse moors, according to a Scottish government review published in 2017.
