In the static electricity topic you're supposed to know how the photocopier works, but I just can't get my head around it! I've googled it but only really complicated complex expanations come up, all I would like is for someone to really simply LIKE REALLY SIMPLY explain what happens, could anyone help?

Just make it really brief please, like the basics, thanks a lot! x

    1. An image of the page to be copied is projected onto a positively charged plate.
    2. Light causes charge to leak away leaving an electrstatic impression of the page.
    3. THis impression attracts the black powder, which is then transferred from plate to paper.
    4. Heat is used to fix the final image on the paper.

The image board is positively charged.
When you place a piece of paper on it, the parts of the image board covered by the dark ink of the paper remains positively charged whilst the rest of the boards charge is leaked away by the light shone onto it by the lights in the machine.
Black powder which is nagatively charged is then attracted to the positively charged parts of the image board and replicates the original image on the paper.
Heat is used to make the powder stick to it and then you have your copy.
