If John Lennon is still alive for the 2016 referendum, would he voted to Leave or Remain?

From my point of view I think he would have been a ‘traditional socialist’ standing up for the working class in which case he would’ve voted leave as many Labour politicians of that era would have done as well.

I want to know your thoughts?

My thoughts are you'd claim Jesus Christ himself would've been a Leaver 'cos OBVIOUSLY all good things stem from Leave Inc..

He wanted rid of borders, so I think pro-EU.

But then he'd be concerned about giving France preferential custom arrangements over the most destitute countries in need of the most help.

So 50/50.

Neither, he'd probably still be living in his swanky apartment in New York

No idea, I'm not a Lennon fan.
But one could say that he did vote leave when he went off with Yoko Ono.

It's not a well structured argument to assume that Leave is in the interests of the working classes. It begs the question. Hard.

That is true, but you'll notice that traditional, working class areas are by far the most likely to vote for parties like UKIP and now the Brexit Party.
Until fairly recently, these areas would have voted Labour. But now Labour has got a lot more liberal and "soft", you'll see a clear shift to middle class areas voting Labour instead.
Although this by no means suggests brexit is in the interests of the working class, it is true that the working class are majority leave voters.

It's a huge discussion why people vote the way they do and it's beside the point. Also, Lennon was no longer working class, he was absurdly wealthy so your argument, if it even works, will backfire as John Lennon is not on the demographic you're talking about.

The point is that the argument that Lennon was a traditional socialist (was he?) -> and therefore he would've voted Leave because Leave protects the interests of the w/cs (do they?) is basically akin to ''Hi I'm Leave and I wanna big up my views with spurious non-arguments''.

I think a more complicated debate would be how Joe Strummer would have voted

I know practically nothing about John Lennon. I'm not informed enough to agree with either you or OP on Lennon's hypothetical brexit standpoint.

My original point was that instead of telling OP why their argument may be wrong, you seemed to instantly jump to attacking Leave itself which is a bit dodgy imo

I instantly attacked a shitload of assumptions he made and given his posting history, it's clear as day why he ''argued'' like that.

I don't know that Lennon was what OP said he was. I am not the one who assumed he was a "traditional socialist", the OP did. I only had to questioned it. The fact that you took issue with my ridicule rather than his non-starting BS is telling.

In his song Imagine there was this message of a lack of borders and a united one world.

I think remaining is closer to his vision cos there are less border restrictions with the EU, it relaxing movement between people of member countries?

Remain cos he had a more internationalist approach to politics going by Sandinista, tbh I don't know, I need to listen to his music more first.
