How do I get into the British Maths Olympiad?

In Year 12, I took the Senior Maths Challenge and got to Senior Kangaroo, but I want to do Computer Science at Oxford and I'd really like to do better. It seems that a lot of the people who do BMO train for it- if you did, what did you do?

Keep practicing. Try all the past papers online and maybe invest in some of the books.

I didn't actually realise that the past problems were available- I thought it was only books, which I can't really afford.

You can go onto the mathematical challenge catalogue on the ukmt website which shows you all the past questions and solutions. They are shown in the format of question, solution, question, solution... so the best method is to turn your phone landscape and scroll through them slowly, marking them as you go.

At the moment (and over the summer) I think you'd be much better off practising the MAT. If you want to later practise for the BMO then fine, but it's not a priority for tutors.
