I went to the docs in regards to my mental health which I feel had been detorating since the last 2 years. And I didn't want my mom to go in with me but she did. I didn't want her going in with me because I knew I wouldn't be able to be as open with gp as I would have liked simply because I wouldn't want my mom to hear what I'm going through and all that.

So that been said, I could only tell my GP a few stuff and not everything. I told my gp that I came today because i worry alot and stress so much. She asked me whether I have ever cried alone. And I said yes. She asked me how many times, she said do you cry everyday, a few times a week/month.
The truth is I cry everyday, if not every day then every other day however I could not have said this in front of my mom because she has no clue that I cry.
So when she asked me later I told her I lied to the GP saying I cry a few times a month and that i don't cry at all. (I had to lie to prevent my mom from worrying and thinking she's a bad mom because she hasn't seen me in a state lol).

I was given a number to call for counselling... I'm going to phone them in a few days as I don't want them thinking im being too urgent because it's only recently I got given the referral.
But what would I achieve from counselling what would they do etc.

Thank you.

Counselling they'd give you a place to vent. Therapy is different though, they give you skills to use to help yourself. Well done on seeking help!
