I have received offer from Birmingham for Msc Conflict, Statebuilding and Development while awaiting reply from Exeter. The Department of Politics is better ranked at Exeter (8th) while it is ranked 18th at former. But the core modules are more comprehensive and development oriented at Birmingham. Exeter does have a work placement opportunity which is the focus area in course.
My career choice would be directly working for the refugees at the ground, so I would like to apply to International Org.s like UNHCR, Red Cross, etc.
Considering all this, can you suggest which university will provide me a better learning experience & opportunities? I am changing my line of study, so I would really like a university with better teaching facilities and staff. I am an international student so am not really aware how big a factor is Prestige on employability? Does Birmingham really score well over Exeter in that factor? Also which would be a better university for social life?

Where do you plan to work as in which country and how do they see prestige? You also need to ask the unis where their grads end up and about links with the sector you want to go into. Is the placement in an area you want to go into?
