I did a joint diploma in high school where I was awarded an American High school diploma as well as an IB diploma but because I did IB I didn't do SATs. Basically, my American high school diploma has much higher grades because of complications. Is it possible to get into UK unis with an American high school diploma without SATs? and if so how do I know what grades I need on my transcrip, should i just email the unis?

It depends on the university. The better ones typically require APs or SAT subject tests (usually three or more). High School grades are not externally moderated, so problematic.

To be clear, did you do the full IDP? If so, that should suffice in of itself (it's not an uncommon qualification taken by domestic students here in the UK).

Universities normally require you to have taken A-level or equivalent study, such as the IB (with offers often expressed in terms of total points and specific points in your HL subjects) or AP exams. Some courses will require specific subjects to have been taken in the above (such as engineering/physics courses which typically require maths/calculus and physics).
