I don't what career I want to do yet. I would like to do a levels and on to higher education.

I have chosen history, food tech and art.

My mum worries that two 'vocational' subjects might be too much. Will these choices narrow by options later?

I wouldn't consider art or history to be vocational... Surely food tech has few transferable skills - why do you want to study it?

It sounds like you are going to go into something creative, which may not necessarily be true. If you have no idea what you want to do, perhaps you should do more facilitating subjects as they give you wider career options. However, if you enjoy food tech and art, that should give a direction on what kind of career you want to go into. If you’d rather be doing food tech and art then do it!

I’d imagine people who do food tech would go into catering, but I may be wrong!

History is a very good subject to study as it gives you skills from source analysis and essay writing, which is admirable in many jobs. It is considered a facilitating subject.
