Hey, i'm starting to do my EPQ- I'm in year 12 going into year 13 and my idea is to do it on mental health within literature. I need help with the question - would you have any ideas of how to phrase it?
Also, I'm not sure whether it's best to focus on a few books or authors, perhaps Shakespeare (old) and perhaps modern media perception? Would you recommend this or how would you phrase the question? Thanks so much!!

Think about it from the readers point of view.

What aspect are you trying to show them?

1. Social attitudes?
2. Accuracy of understanding and description?
3. How sympathetic is the author and why?

Keep a list with questions on and aspects you might find interesting.

Do the research and id books or characters.
Do you think they are understood?
Sympathy, ridicule, fear? How does the author use them?
Does this vary between mental illness?
Make a list of possible characters and books.
Familiarise yourself with the area and start to see what angle or aspects you want to look at and investigate for the reader.
Dont forget you can have differences in time period, social class and nationalities.

I dont like giving questions and suggest a lot of brainstorming plus research is the best way to go and you should have a number to look at. You might find it easier to get a grasp on if you look for literature reviews on this subject.

Also get the spec and look where the marks are.
