Sooo it's basically the title.
Also so sorry for the long thread...

BACK STORY TIME
We dated for 8 months (best months of my life), loved each other for 2 years (too scared to admit it to each other), broke up around 4 months ago, life went downhill realllyyy badly, he is ALWAYS there for me no matter what, he's always someone I can turn to in the darkest days, hurt me countless times, made me laugh, there were so many things in the way (the distance, the army, our parents)

So. He leaves in 2 months for training for the army and we might never ever speak to each other again when he leaves as he's dead busy and when he finishes training he gets deployed...

As you can tell were really close... I'm so scared to lose him.
I'm 17 and I have a life to live, I just don't know how I'm going to cope without him, he's always there for me no matter what... I'm just going to be lost without him.

Tips?

Why can't you speak to him again? Surely he has a phone or internet connection? People in the army don't just drop off the face of the earth when they join.

Of course you'll be able to speak with him! Is he saying you can't or is it you panicking?

First, there will be some restrictions on when he can contact you during his basic training (learning to be a soldier), but a few weeks in things tend to be more relaxed on the comms side and the use of mobile phones and electronic devices. It will also be easy to keep in touch later on during any specialist training.

Second, it's unlikely he'll be deploying straight away. However, even overseas there are phone cards, post and e-letters available.

It's time for you to move on. The sooner you do it, the better for you both.

Cause he needs to concentrate on revision with the army...which is fair enough but he's making it sound like no replies what so ever! it's really getting on my nerves *rolls eyes*
And exactly!

If he is trying to make it out like he can't talk at all, then that sounds like he wants to distance himself from you.

If you want to know for sure, then you have to be open and upfront with him about it. Tell him that you understand the army takes priority so he won't be there all the time, but also say that you know that the army doesn't make you cut off all contact from people. Ask him to explain what's going on and why he has said those things.

I suppose there comes a time when you just gotta draw the line in some relationships and move on.

OP: If he isn't interested in maintaining communication with you then he certainly isn't worth your time. Your happiness isn't reliant on anyone other than yourself.

Men in the army can have friends and relationships. If he's telling you otherwise it means he doesn't want to keep communicating with you and is using this as an excuse.

UPDATE:
He said and I quote exactly "(my name - ha it's anonymous sorryyy) I get a week after the 6 weeks and that week is me staying up late with my family, going out with my mates I won't be on my phone"

So...i understand that I totally do! but I mean he's practically ditching me completely for everyone not on his phone..oof yeah he's using the army as an excuse maybe?
