Hi guys I’m really stressing over whether to do a degree in English literature or law. I think I might like law because it’s not reading 3 novels like English but I’m scared. Thanks!

Huh? Do you not like reading in general, odd numbers, or novels? Coz ngl I found Wuthering Heights to be more of a page-turner than An Introduction To Land Law. 😜😉

What exactly are you scared about? Have you researched into what a Law degree entails? Tbh, It might be easier if you can be a bit more specific with your question. As a general rule: focus on what attracts you to academic Law rather than what puts you off Eng Lit xx 💕

"Not like reading 3 novels"

If you don't like reading, law probably isn't the right path. You'll end up having to do a lot of reading.

Plus reading legal texts isn't the same as reading a novel, you have to get through a large amount of text in a small amount of time, it isn't always easy.

Trust me when I say you have to have determination to study law too; trudging through a 50 page Land case is quite the borefest.

Law is like reading 3 novels in Old English. If you don't like hard English, you will not have fun.

You need to spice things up, then. Add some Nutella to your Weetabix.

Nutella on Weetabix with my nut allergy would certainly spice up my day.

Lady Jamie is a really nice person, judging from her posts. You are correct to feel flattered. Please ignore the jibes.

I'd think that English Lit is more appropriate for you - reading some novels might be tough, and deciphering some of the language in them might be tough, but it's ultimately something that you do for pleasure.

Law is a very dry, down-to-earth topic, and forces you to do a lot of modules that you don't care about.
