I think it is. Shows that you are interested enough to pursue your medical interests more deeply. My son got into Oxford for medicine by doing an EPQ on the explanatory gap in the brain. He was asked an open ended question about it in interview and because he knew his terminology etc, he made a good impression.
Here's what Oxford thinks: you don't need to do it, and don't put too much work into it, but it will show you are prepared to specialise in your subject.

Here's another article that may help

and an article against it

If you don't want to go the full hog on EPQ, just read a few books on an area of medicine that interests you.

Sheffield will lower your offer to AAB (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/medicine...g/entryrequire) for medicine if you have an A at EPQ which might interest you? You have to get the offer first with medicine though....

I would say it is definitely worth doing an EPQ in medicine.
The EPQ was an opportunity for me to look at something within medicine I was interested in during school hours- thanks to that it was a massive stress relief and it has definitely made discussing my interest in the course a lot easier within my personal statement.
I know some universities lower their offer for getting an A/A* in the project so that's also pretty handy!
