I filled out the application for second year’s student finance and so did my mum, but my dad didn’t get his financial info in on time. I got a letter from SFE saying that I’ve got just over £4000 in maintenance loan, but I got just under £6000 last year. At the bottom of the letter it says that one of the reasons for getting less than I think I should get could be missing info etc.
My dad’s gonna do his bit soon, but do I have to ask them to recalculate or will they automatically know that there’s now the second half of the parental finances thing now and change it themselves?

Also, my brother got less in his second year despite not missing any deadlines or anything. Did anyone else experience this?

they should reassess it automatically but contact them to make sure once he send his info in. the amounts can change year on year, perhaps your parents income just went over the next threshold that year.
