For those who watch anime.

Local media quoted police as saying a man broke into the Kyoto Animation Co studio on Thursday morning and sprayed an unidentified liquid around.

Some 30 people still remain unaccounted for, broadcaster NHK reported.

The suspect, an unidentified man, has been detained and was taken to hospital with injuries.

The fire broke out at the three-storey building at around 10:30 local time (01:35 GMT) on Thursday. Rescue operations are still ongoing.

A Kyoto prefectural police spokesman told news agency AFP that a man "threw a liquid and set fire to it". Police also found knives at the scene, say local media.

NHK said the man had been heard saying "drop dead" as he set fire to the building.
It is not clear what relationship the suspect may have had to the company.

On the bright side as of 16:00 GMT, $605.758 has been raised to help the studio so far. The response from the community has been great.

Wow that is amazing! The community may get alot of hate or judging opinions sometimes from the outside due to stereotypes and cultural differences but at the end of the day together people can be pretty amazing sometimes standing on their own

He was probably angry that the animators gave a bad ending to his whatever favourite anime, a true hardcore anime fan. But on a serious note, really horrible and disgusting attack, highly doubt it's a terror attack.
EDIT: Apparently the culprit has some sort of grudge against the company, accusing them of copying his works in some way, more questions for him are to be followed.

Quick update everyone, and it's sad news I'm afraid.
33 people have been pronounced dead as a result of poor ventilation, some structural stuff and the sheer amount of paper the company used .
There is a GoFundMe that people are donating to (don't have a link to hand, but it is top of the hashtag on twitter). It is well over target, but obviously every penny counts in this horrible time
