The Student Room Group

If you don't get in, you can always cancel your student loan application- this is pretty easy to do. However, student finance are often slow at sorting out applications- the closer you leave it until you'd start the course, the more likely you'd be paid late. Would you have another way of funding yourself at the start of term?

If you fail your IELTS, are you not planning on resitting?

It's very exhausting physically, mentally and emotionally. To think that I only failed one of the modules I had to do the 4 modules again for £175. I am an economic migrant and earn very little and it's a choice between paying £175 for ielts or paying my £500 a month tiny room in London. Life is so hard. This ielts should be scrapped. It's ridiculously expensive, unreliable and unnecessary.

I agree that £175 is a lot, but hopefully you have passed. Long term, the £175 will benefit you though as you'll be able to go to uni- it might even be worth being late on your rent for, especially as I guess you'll be moving for uni?

Unfortunately, the system isn't likely to change in the next month or so!
