The least surprising electoral result since Blair won his second landslide!

In the end Hunt did a bit less well than he hoped and public debate reactions suggested, but if anything probably better than the original predictions.

We now await the extended period of chaotic non-government that will be Boris as PM.

Johnson is a colorful and controversial former foreign secretary, former London mayor and longtime columnist who galvanized the Brexit campaign in 2016.

New York Times

He has thrived on theatrics. As prime minister, he faces the hard reality of Brexit.

France 24
Boris Johnson has won the race to become the UK’s next prime minister, placing responsibility for guiding Britain out of the European Union squarely on the shoulders of a man who campaigned for the Leave movement.
Known for his jokes, gaffes and volte-faces, Boris Johnson, the UK’s prime minister-in-waiting, has pitched himself as the big personality Britain needs to finally deliver Brexit and save his ruling Conservative Party from an electoral drubbing.

Die Zeit, Berlin
Boris Johnson succeeds Theresa May
The British Tories have decided: A Brexit hardliner will be the new head of their conservative party and thus probably new head of government in London.

Boris Johnson will become next UK PM after beating Jeremy Hunt in Tory leadership race

Time will tell. I wonder if he will last long actually, the way things are going, he could easily be facing an election shortly and then we will see what happens.

Previous wives, employers and Conservative Party leaders have given him a chance. He let them down. How many chances does he get?

You mean like we gave him a chance as Mayor of London, which he dealt with in a mix of horrible amateurish dilettante disdain, self-serving narcissism and indifference to the real issues? Or the way we gave him a chance as quite possibly the worst Foreign Secretary on record?
