How should I expand my Political and Sociological knowledge and perspective?

I’ve recently started studying sociology and am an aspiring lawyer. What books, podcasts, other sources do you recommend so that I can expand my knowledge on politics, economics and sociological perspectives?
I want to be able to hold a good conversation and be aware of the ways of the world.
This is also in context to the LNAT essay that I would have to write which would test me on the above mentioned skills.
Thanks!

What specific area in politics do you have an interest in?
News articles are a bad way to collect information.

Take a look at think tanks.

`Read a lot of books. besides visiting your public library acquire own library by judicious purchases from Amazon, EBay and charity shops to educate yourself about, philosophy, economics and political and constitutional theory. The internet is awash with archived books, academic papers, and blogs. Good luck, its all out there, have you the time and inclination to make the best of it.

You don't need to know anything about policts to do this, and some would say you only need to know the codex and be a *******.

Codex? Stop trying to use weird words to sound clever, dad.

To OP, just read stuff. You don't need to have a sociological or economic perspective

1. I'm not trying. Sometimes I just guess words basing on the common Latin factor, or I might also occasionally make weird word selections just because I'm not a native speaker.
2. Why should I listen to your orders on my manner of speaking?
