What if you went ages without talking?

Out of curiosity, what would happen if you went ages, like months or years, not using your voice at all? (I'm not planning on doing this lol).
Would you lose the ability to converse? Would nothing happen? Would anything improve?

Are you talking about your ability to form words (i.e. using your throat and vocal cords) or your ability to think of what to say (i.e. using your brain)?

Not talking for ages will likely lead to (at least initially) a hoarse voice as your throat muscles are disused.

It is unlikely to affect your brain's ability to think of what words to say.

Oh that's interesting, you don't think another other changes than physical ones would take place? Like forgetting how to socialise to some extent.

Probably not. I am assuming you would still be doing other things (i.e. you didn't state you would isolate yourself in a room for years), so your brain will still be processing information.

There's a recent article on the BBC about it - this guy talked to < 10 people in 20 years, it's quite interesting. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-48968502
