Addicted to porn and masturbation

Please Someone help me whether it be advice or links or recommend videos. I’m 16 and been trying to quit for 4-5 years now. It’s ruining my life.

I do understand its hard to break an addiction but masturbation is one habit that you require privacy for, I will advise that you try not to be alone most times, dedicate like 3 months to being around at least one person, it will be hard but slowly the urge will reduce and you can control it. Hope this helps.

Dear I have been there before. But now I am free. The first step is to believe that it is possible.

That was my hardest point. Once you believe it is possible to quit then the job is half done.

The next step is to stop fighting it. Use replacement method.

What do I mean?

You need a superior power to help you. Just ask Jesus Christ the only friend of sinners to help you. Once you say that prayer believe it. And stop fighting it.

From that day any time you watch porn or masturbate pick a verse of the Bible especially New Testament and read aloud.

Well that's a bad habit.

Try to keep the problem in proportion - the real harm comes from how you react to indulging in this bad habit - shame, self-hatred, anxiety, etc.

Try to track when you engage in this practice. Let's guess: when you're bored, feeling down, on your own, feeling horny and with access to the internet/devices. Can you spot the trends and triggers? Can you mitigate against them? (Don't spend lots of time alone, use and leave your devices in public places).

Try to reduce the frequency of the activity and the type of material you use - it'll take time but just work steadily on it. You will absolutely have big screw-ups but any reduction over time is a positive one.

Try to replace the activity and time with more positive things - exercise, socialising (friends and family), join a club and volunteering. Keeping a diary/journal may make it easier do.

Masturbation and sexuality are normal and healthy parts of life - removing these should not be the end goal. Instead turning these into positive things that you feel in control of is the goal.

There's a lot on information on the internet about masturbation, lots of it is nonsense designed to get to to spend money or join a religions or political group - be critical of your sources.

If you're really stuck and it's impacting your mental health I'd pop along to the doctors and have a chat. You're not alone or powerless in the feeling, behaviour or bad habit - many people go through it.

This is a pattern of behaviour so you must find a way to break the pattern. Reducing amount masturbating will help if you cannot control your desires. Generally, masturbation is a normal part of sexual experience but like anything in excess, this will do more harm than good if out of control. Start off by looking at porn as usual, but dont masturbate. If you lose control, turn off computer. Take small steps to be free of a habit. Ask yourself how you would like to be treated as a person and do the same to others.
Make sure you find time to develop close relationships with someone you like and the urges you have for excess porn will diminish over time.
I have a similar problem. I think the only real solution is to make it very difficult or impossible to access it. If you have unrestricted access to it 24/7 you don’t stand a chance in the world man

Just make your mind to engage in another activity which is very dear to you other than masturbation.. and don't try to be alone
Try to make it just once or twice a day. Balance is key
Try to keep it once a day if possible like most people have said. Also, have distractions, hobbies, things you actively have to go out and do.
