I've sat ABRSM G8 Oboe, G7 Piano and G5 theory and intend to sit G8 piano in winter and G8 theory in spring. I've achieved either distinction or merit passes in all of my music exams.

I've also sat my Scottish Highers and I'm waiting to find out my results. I panicked a bit when I read that Edinburgh is unlikely to offer a place unless AAAAA is achieved.
I sat English, French, History, Maths and Modern Studies and intend to apply for Law. I haven't taken music at Higher or Advanced Higher.

If my results were AAAAB, would universities consider the practical and academic music qualifications almost like another Higher - or is this wishful thinking?

I don't think unis care about whether you play instruments or not

It seems bizarre you could have two G8 practicals and G8 theory - way beyond Advanced Music and this count for absolutely nothing, but I take your point.

Yes it would add up to a whole A level in terms of ucas points but unis don't care about ucas points anymore so it's useless unless it's for music degree

Fair enough. So you're saying they'll just skip right over it?

Yeah they won't consider this if you don't meet your offer and they are looking to still accept or reject you I think

Unis do sometimes let people in if they have narrowly missed the enrtry requirements however.

I got straight A’s at N5 and hope to achieve straight A’s at Higher, it’s just a seed of doubt at the back of my mind and wanted to see if music qualifications counted for anything at all.
