I am slightly concerned about him. He is possibly the most neglected house plant in the country. I'd most definately be prosecuted for cruelty if there was an RSPCP, although it's mainly out of forgetfulness and ignorance.

How do I go about ascertaining the species of my cactus?

Does anyone else have one?

I try, but I don't want to harm him in my eagerness to make amends for previous abandonment.

It needs love. Give it lots of hugs and kisses.

He is growing, so I suppose I'm not doing too badly.

I've made the mistake of touching him before, prickly ******* that he is.

Oh, right. There should be one though, to protect them from neglecters like you :p:

So why the sudden concern?

So why the sudden concern?
Partly because I would so very much like a distraction from The Duchess of Malfi, and partly because I realise that he will be coming with me to University soon, so I shall have to learn how to take proper care of him.

Ah ok. Do people often worry about their cactus' welfare to take a break from the Duchess of Malfi?

He might not want to go with you now

Not that I know of. I do, though.

I wouldn't go that far. It's okay, but not in excessive amounts (i.e. revision).

I used to have a little mini-collection of about 6/7, but that was years ago.

Perceptive comment there. I don't know what it needs, which is the problem.

Plants need water, sweetie.

And sunlight, in order to photosynthesise.

... Just so you know.

Does this cactus have a name? The fact you called it he got me thinking.
I say call it Pickles, if you don't have already.
