This is a general help thread for anyone doing English Language B Unit 6!

"• Children need interaction instead of just listening. They need to be actively involved in language"

What was the example of a child (it may have been two siblings, I can't remember) who was left infront of a tv when he/she grew up and didn't learn to speak because there was no interaction?
It wasn't Genie, does anyone know?

Jim, it's Berko and Browns research from the 60's (I think). He had two deaf/mute parents, so although he was exposed to language, the lack of social interaction stunted his acquisition of language. Check the English forum, theres a mega-thread in there about ENB6 :yy:

Ignore me completely, it wasn't Berko and Brown, it was Bard and Sachs. Too many "Blah & Blah"'s in acquisition theory :nn:
