Chinese GCSEs or A-Levels?? PLEASE HELP

So I am a native Chinese speaker hello there

I have recently moved to the uk. before that i studied in a quite westernised "half international half local" school. we placed equal emphasis on chinese and english

the thing is i have always failed chinese back in hk, and i have no problem with speaking and reading, i do that like any local, it's just that i had a hard time writing because i can't remember how to write the ****in characters (equivalent to being shite at spelling). literally my writing standards are equivalent to local primary or middle school standards.

I'm going to y10 this september, so should i take my chinese a levels this year without doing my gcses (my friend did that), or do the gcses, then do alevels??

my goal is to get a 9 in gcses or an A* or A in alevels

the reason i wanna do a levels directly is because i can literally feel my chinese skills fading. i have not written a chinese word in months so the longer i wait, the *****ier it's gonna be.
Do your GCSEs I'd say. They are a lot easier than the Chinese exams, and if you can do well in the GCSEs, then you will have a lot more opportunities here in the UK, since the competition is nothing compared to that in China.

Have a look at some past papers and see how hard you think they are. I'm fairly sure AQA now only offer Mandarin so if you want to take Cantonese you need to pick Edexcel
