Is it too late to apply to a 'gap year work placement' scheme for 2019/2020?

At earliest, I'm guessing the 12 month schemes will start in September but slightly shorter kind could very well be later. I'm just questioning whether it would still be worth reaching out to groups like EDT YINI (Year In Industry) or whether most likely most of the employing decisions have already been made - and whether this is because they expected applications around the same time as others would be applying to universities.
It's darn August and I'm going abroad for 2 weeks [rest in piece getting Alevel results on time] but I've left doing this for so long that I'm not even sure there's a point now.
