um, why?

I don't want to get into a debate but I think it's sick that this dog story is getting so much comment and coverage. People wouldn't be whipped up into so much hysteria if if had happened to a human but just think.
Humans do compassionate things too, imagine it happening to your mother, father, grandparents, siblings etc, rather than dogs which are pretty similar to each other and replaceable.

Obviously it was a vile thing to do and mindless cruelty like that to anything is horrible but I find it offensive that stories about this happening to humans aren't as well covered/sympathised with.

um, why?
Because humans > dogs?

It is horrible. ****ing kids. Their parents should be held responsible, and the kids should get a decent punishment.

It's much worse when it happens to a person
I don't think anyone could be that sick.

This is sad, but people are losing rationality because they are getting emotional. There is no question that the kids are in the wrong, and should be punished, but I believe they should definitely not name and shame them.

Disgusting. What are kids being taught these days? It's not funny, they're causing suffering to something that is LIVING. I sure hope they don't have pets at home.

It's out of the question because of the hysteria that gets whipped up about fairly minor crimes. Ok the kids shouldn't have killed the dogs, they should have to do community service for ages to learn a lesson not to be cruel *******s, but if the kids were named some nutter would probably kill them (as happened the other day when a man being tried for having child porn was stabbed to death outside his home - SICK)

This is just horrible - similar to the pregnant sheep story from before.
What's the sheep story?

This is horrific. I don't understand how people can be so twisted. Did anyone see that video of someone standing on a puppy with a stiletto? It's the most distressing thing I've seen in my life.

They are obviously zoosadists, and i agree that they should be executed in a similar way but everyone sounds very naive getting so emotional when things like this happen all the time.
A question for you: how would you have reacted if it was a snake as opposed to a dog i'm curious.
I personally think it's wrong to hurt/torture any form of animal life - no matter how small, or not cute/socially 'liked' - if you're doing it for no reason than your own pleasure.

Obviously things like swatting a fly (unconsciously) is OK, but people purposely burning insects with magnifying glasses...what's the use of that apart from killing something which isn't interfering with you in any way?

Anyone saying "kill the people who did this" is just as sick though to be honest.
Considering they are just going to get worse as they grow up as one was only 11, it isnt really as they are going to turn into psychos

I was personally far more upset about the recent story of a man drugging an elderly couple in a railway station then robbing them. The man, disoriented went to get help and was still drugged so fell on to the tracks and was run over by the train.
Made my blood run cold, this dog thing is the most minor crime ever in comparison but people are all like "ohhh its just like my cuddly wuddly pet doggie" so getting overly emotional about it

I know I am agreeing, I will edit my post to make it clearer now. I meant these children do not deserve to have there whole lives marred by this.

Personally I think a picture such as the one from vietnam of the man being shot is a million times more distressing.

I hate stories like this because I can feel the pain of the dog more than if it was a human. That story has just ruined my day.

I wish I didn't feel like this.

And yes, 'crushing' is something of a fetish in Japan -- apparantly there are very disturbing photos in an article in Snopes (a website which addresses urban legends/things of that ilk such as email forwards, and professed this particular one as true), I haven't been able to bring myself to look them, but it's a women doing that to a kitten.

Let's be absolutely clear: the kids in question have not yet been found guilty.

I agree entirely with this point, but the other points you are making are ridiculous. It would get a lot more media coverage and people sickened if it had happened to a human, and these kids obviously deserve some severe punishment.

I'm not saying it's justified if you do it because you get pleasure out of it, i was just answering your question, which you've just asked again, some people do it because they get pleasure out of it, even though they should control it, here's another example:

Spoiler:
Show
Cat burning was a form of zoosadistic entertainment in 16th century Paris, France. In this form of entertainment, people would gather dozens of cats in a net and hoist them high into the air from a special bundle onto a bonfire. According to Norman Davies[1], the assembled people "shrieked with laughter as the animals, howling with pain, were singed, roasted, and finally carbonized."[1]

I was also making the point that everyone has suddenly become irrational because as you put it, the dog, by everyone's opinion here, is 'cute and socially liked'.
