My application was a success and I have been invited to an interview for a grad job in PR.

This is great. But I'm also bricking it as it's my first grad interview and to make things worse, the interview is 3 hours long!

They're going to test my organisation skills, my technology skills and just the general stuff.

Can someone advise me on how to prepare for this long interview?

Go to your careers service and ask to be pointed towards the interview resources.
They should have given you an idea of what the 3hrs consists of, normally it would be 1hr interview and then maybe team games or some tests.

If the interview is actually 3hrs long then that would be longer than normal. You really need a format panel, single person etc and then just prepare for typical questions and interview technique. Who are you? what skills have you got? Why this industry? Why choose us? What makes you stand out/ why should we pick you? Any questions etc. I doubt the whole session will be one long interview, but you have the letter. If you are confused then ask them or research your company. There might also be questions that are scenario based on how have you dealt with situation X or how would you deal with situation Y? Maybe they will give you an intray exercise to prioritise and then get you to explain how you would handle the situation?

Just do some research and you should be able to figure it out.

They said it will be broken up into three sections; test my organisation skills, my knowledge of technology and then an interview about my background and personal interests.

Yeah I think I will phone them up as they did say in the email to call them if I have any questions. It's a PR consultancy - so apart from saying what they specialise in and who their clients are, that's as far as you get with PR websites.

Would have helped if youd said that at the start.
Check with them, but I expect.

1. Either a scenario to include an inbox exercise.
2. Not sure whether its general industry or user skills.
3. Normal interview.

If you break it down it becomes easier tbh 3hrs is nothing compared to some assessment centres.

Interview - the place of work is a tiny building. The career's advisor thought it was an AC until I stated the above.

Sorry! In the middle of doing my MA diss so my brain is all over the place atm!

What's an inbox exercise?

Yeah that's what I'm concerned about. Since it's Technical PR - I would assume it's industry wise. The job description said nothing of technology other than writing emails, blogs, managing social media that kind of stuff.

Thanks for the reassurance. It just seemed long to me.
