I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for raising this question, but do you reckon that single honours students have a greater 'edge' over joint honours?

I mean, single honours courses generally have higher entry requirements and you are dealing with one sole subject very intensively. Whereas Joint Honours you are kind of doing two things that interest you, almost like you can't make a decision on which one you prefer. Or you just do it to widen your career prospects etc. no?

I just wonder whether employers/top unis for MAs/society in general are more impressed with a person who did English, rather than someone who did English and Film Studies or English and Politics etc... (Or Chemistry, rather than Chemistry and Psychology, or Chemistry and Neuroscience)

What do you think?
