I’ve read some books (in French) including ‘L’étranger’, ‘bonjour tristesse’ and ‘le silence de la mer’ and I am unsure of how to incorporate these into my personal statement. Do I write about why I enjoyed them and what I learnt from them or something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes talk about why you enjoyed them and what you learnt in terms of how they helped you to develop your interest in the subject and why they made you want to study the subject.
