Meet up with your friends? You could always look for a job, maybe even volunteer work.

Hey, this may sound really harsh but it's true, rather than sitting in a chat room telling people you have no job etc, use the time you have free to look for one, jobs don't find you, you have to find them, and if life away from university is really that bad go to friends, library, surround yourself with things you would find in uni!

Good luck (Y) xx

Totally the same. I miss everyone at Uni so much. I don't know how I'm going to manage over the next few months. My housemates and girlfriend live so far away that it's impossible to see them with any sort of regularity over summer. I've got friends back home but those are hardly on my doorstep either. I miss living with my best friends and socialising with them every single day. I can go out with people back home but that's only 2 or 3 times a week max and they also live a fair distance away which means I need to drive/bus/train it anywhere just to see them which obviously costs money. I'm currently looking for a job just to kill time and earn some cash until I'm back at Uni. Roll on 2nd year...

The best thing for you to do would be to start looking for a job now for the summer. When you're depressed, it's harder to take any action, that's understandable, but really force yourself to get out there, and you'll feel much better for it. Best thing is to get busy as quickly as you can, and the low feelings will dissolve pretty quickly.

Hey, You need to go out there and enjoy the summer! It's natural to miss people from Uni and it's all well and good saying "go find a job" because I know how hard it is. But make a list for this coming week of things you want and need to do and make sure you do them. Get into a routine if needs be... start cycling or doing something new, meet up with friends and job hunt, make it a fun thing...

Summer should be spent being happy

Tis true, life really is what you make it. There is a huge difference between uni lifestyle and home lifestyle and its probably a bit of a shock adjusting. With the job situation, it can be really tricky to find something, so find out about local temp agencies and send your CV into them. Then you can get something for the summer. Get the local paper for jobs and have a look through that as well. Talk to people you know and see if they can think of places that are recruiting.

Get in touch with people and make an effort to keep busy if you can. Obviously if you get a job that will fill a lot of time but aside from that, just get out there!
