Hi, I'm currently at the end of my first year of my apprenticeship and will turn 17 on Aug 12th.

I was looking to join the FAA or RAF as a pilot when i'm 18 which is just 1 year shy of the end of my apprenticeship. I was wondering if applying for the armed forces prior to the end of my apprenticeship would be detrimental to my application and if I should wait 1 year extra so I can finish my apprenticeship before joining (i will have the qualifications necessary by the end of my 2nd year in the 3 year apprenticeship).

Thanks

Hi, sorry you've not had any responses to this yet - just giving it a quick bump, so hopefully someone will be along soon

Surnia might be able to help out with this one :hat2:

Hi

I'd suggest you complete the apprenticeship you're currently on as this would be better for you. The RAF isn't going anywhere and the extra experience would be good for you

Hi

What's your apprenticeship in and do you already have the qualifications to be able to apply for the role of Pilot in the RAF? You will need to meet ALL of the entry and eligibility criteria to be able to apply, so if you need your full apprenticeship to be able to meet those requirements you'll need to stay on it.

Read everything, thoroughly, here:

Kind regards
