Hi can people who have been informed that they were successful how long did it take for you to receive any paperwork to fill out for vetting etc?

Judging by the thread, the process has been at varying paces for different people - for me, I got notified of being successful (ie in the candidate pool in late November last year), received my official offer late Jan and then my vetting forms about 2 weeks ago - so pretty much 4 months from successful email to starting vetting. I think others have been faster though.

Hi, I received the paperwork a few weeks after, but I know everyone has been different.

Thank you it gives me some idea and to balance my expectations of how quick it will be to receive them.

Can I ask whether your vetting has completed yet or whether you have heard anything further about a start date?

No, mine was submitted on 6th Jan. I have a conditional offer which I’ve accepted and I have completed substance misuse test and medical so I think I am just waiting for vetting to complete now.

I am in the same boat but haven’t done a medical yet. Vetting forms sent back in Jan and a substance test completed. With regards to the medical, were you invited by email? Where did you have to go for it?? I’m based in the north east so wondering if it will be another journey somewhere for it.... thanks

Hi, yes I was invited to the medical by email. I had the choice of two locations, London or Warrington. I chose London as it was the nearest.

I’m the same too, I got invited to the medical by email and offered London or Warrington but since specifying the place I have not yet been given a date for it and been waiting a few weeks. Anybody else receive the candidate engagement newsletter? Not received one before but got one for March and was concerned that meant they had withdrew my offer and put me back in the candidate pool.

I got the newsletter too, but I took it as a positive sign? I don't think they would put you back in the candidate pool ... I am currently in the process of negotiating my start date so at least I sincerely hope not lol. Anyone experiencing slow email responses though? Usually they reply quickly to me but lately it seems to take quite long ...

I also received the newsletter and assumed it was a good sign. Can I ask when your vetting came through and when you got offered your start date?

Possibly somehow to do with the massive pandemic and lockdown affecting people working...

It took me approx 9 months from interview until start. Don't be disheartened if you don't receive newsletter every month, even more so now under current circumstances. It's all worth the wait to become part of the elite law enforcement in the UK!

My first vetting round came through in December, second in January, offer in February. I was offered May or alternatively August.

No, this started before Covid-19 was a serious pandemic.

Oh, there’s two rounds?!

Just accepted my offer, completed all the vetting forms they’ve given me so guessing no communication with them is a good thing! Also passed medical and psych assessment. Misuse test was done a while ago. Should be good to go I imagine, has anybody who has accepted an offer had any updates with regards to possible start dates?

I’m in the same situation, I am assuming we are waiting to hear that our vetting is complete and then we will receive a start date?

Beginning of Jan, what about you?

I had my assessment centre on the 15th, so keeping everything crossed although I imagine there will be some delay now. But for those that have gone through the medical etc, is there a hearing test? And if so is it a pass/fail. I have previously failed the police hearing test for hearing loss in one ear so this is something I am concerned about. My hearing loss does not cause me any issues day to day and I don't need a hearing aid.

Yes there is a hearing test and it is pass or fail. This would be something you would have to discuss with occupational health. If you are successful they will provide an email address for any questions. Best of luck!

Thank you for replying. Really do hope there is something that can be done because I really want this.

I think it was middle/end of January. Considering done my medical and assessments, depending on pass/fail vetting, things should move smoothly even with the situation currently. Am I being too hopeful?
